CAN DO

Obtaining a CBA Merchant Facility

To use CardGate.net Services for processing "cardholder not present" transactions, customers need to be Commonwealth Bank (CBA) COMMLINK merchants, ie use the CBA as their "acquiring bank". Note that merchants need not bank with the CBA to become CBA credit card merchants.

Signing up can be done over the phone by ringing the CBA Merchant Direct Sales Team on 1800 730 554. When you call, state they you require a "COMMLINK via CardGate merchant facility".

If you want to accept Amex and/or Diners cards, you need to be an Amex/Diners merchant. Simply supply the CBA with your Amex/Diners merchant numbers so that they will be associated with your COMMLINK facility.

When your COMMLINK merchant facility has been approved, you will be supplied with three set of numbers:

  • Merchant Number:eg 5353 1600 0000 0000. This number is required to enable clients to accept credit card transactions.
  • CAIC: eg 311000062000000. This is a unique ID that is assigned to your range of "virtual terminals".
  • CATID's: one eight digit number, or a range, that identifies the individual "virtual terminals" that will be used to conduct the transactions eg 82000001 - 82000004
  • It is the CAIC and CATID(s) that need to be supplied to CardGate.net to for us to load your facility onto our payment gateways.
